Jain Heritage School
Designed to be built in 3 parts, the school is set in an L-shaped site. The pre and primary school are set out in the beginning, in buildings that are linear, full of light ventilation and openness. The middle school and high school are set around an external and internal court that bring the students and classes together.

In the Primary school block, the site shapes long buildings, lining up classrooms along a corridor. This common arrangement is quietly transformed to change along the length. Children make sense of change in their environment and adapt, activate them in different ways. The stilt floor becomes a play-learning space. It expands to the open ground to the learning garden.

The common space shifts from corridor to court to balcony to bridge to staircase, making the long buildings a journey for little children.
The Primary and middle school model of education is set around a more exploratory and eco-friendly learning. Following this, the building brings earth blocks, concrete, greenery and gentle color in a way that remains simple but engaging. The space between the 2 blocks is connected with a bridge at 3 levels and roof at the top. The space below this also connects the two blocks and serves as the main entrance to this block.
The secondary and high school is set in a building around an internal court that brings life to the space. The building responds to the play courts on one side and the auditorium on the other side.
The brick facade and the varied spaces bring character and a variety of learning spaces beyond the classroom. The design articulates the windows, sunshades, skylights and corridors to address the gentle but variable climate of Bengaluru.
