Delhi Public School-Multi-purpose Hall

A new addition to an existing school, gives the school children a new cultural and recreational center in the school.  The new multipurpose hall is a large brick building that sits between the playground and the classroom blocks. The foreground to the multi-purpose hall is a brick platform that dips into form the open air theater on one side and the stepped gallery towards the playground on the other side.

The multipurpose hall is designed for the hot dry climate, with flexible arrangement for different activities. A double façade is designed with trellis.

A new brick platform with an open air theatre and a stepped gallery towards the sports ground, provides a foreground for the brick multipurpose hall.  

Design Approach

This new addition provides students with a modern cultural and recreational hub. The large brick multipurpose hall is strategically positioned between the playground and classroom blocks. Its foreground features a brick platform that seamlessly transitions into an open-air theatre on one side and a stepped gallery overlooking the playground on the other.

 

The multipurpose hall is meticulously designed for a hot, dry climate, offering flexible arrangements for various school activities. A double facade features a trellis along its exterior to provide essential shading and natural ventilation. This layered approach minimizes heat gain while maintaining a strong visual connection to the surrounding school campus.
