House in Williamnagar

The George House responds to its steep, hilly site. Built on multiple levels, the design centres on a large, covered courtyard. This space brings natural light deep into the home. Floor-to-ceiling glass and wide terraces offer stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains.

Inside, double-height ceilings and a wooden floating staircase create a sense of scale. An indoor Zen garden sits below the stairs. A private chapel with unique murals serves as a quiet spiritual space. Warm timber and textured stone are used throughout to reflect the natural setting.

A large home in the sub tropical hills that uses wood, stone, and a central court to feel open.

Design Approach

The design follows the natural slope of the land to minimize impact. A central covered court acts as the heart of the home. It allows for constant airflow and soft daylight. We used a palette of local stone and warm wood to create a cozy but grand feel. The layout balances large social areas with peaceful spots, like the indoor greenery and private prayer room. Large roof overhangs protect the house from heavy rains while framing the forest views. It is a modern sanctuary built to live in harmony with the hills.
